Video: PubhD Dublin May

This video has the PubhD Talks from May, 3rd in The Black Sheep. The talks included are from the following Presenters:

Maureen Williams, a third-year PhD student in the Zoology Department at Trinity College. She focuses on how behavior-changing parasites and their hosts interact, and how those interactions could change with rising temperature. She conducts experiments and does field work mostly in lakes and rivers, with a focus on ecologically important crustaceans and their Acanthocephalan parasites. Hopefully, her work will be able to show the ecological consequences of parasites pushing hosts to their predators. She tweets as @MoDubs11 and you can read more about her on her website.

Scott McKay, a first year PhD student in the Department of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

Patrick Rogers, a first-year PhD student in DCU’s School of English.

PubhD: Explain Your Research in a Pub

PubhD is a monthly, free event that brings together PhD students from every Dublin college across a range of disciplines to share their work in ten-minute presentations, with an additional 20 minutes for friendly questions and answers. Masters, undergraduates and general public usually join too because it’s good fun.

It was established by researchers in Nottingham during 2014, since then its network has expanded to over 20 cities, across five different countries. It is a fantastic opportunity to share your research with a non-specialist audience, to test new ideas ahead of a conference, and to meet students from the other universities. Interested in speaking? Check out our guide to ‘Speaking at PubhD’.
